It’s been a busy year here at Sheila Fleet Jewellery, busier than most with so many exciting events for the company.

At the end of 2012 Great Britain was celebrating a spectacular year. 2013 had a tough act to follow!

But little did we know that we would start the year with a bang as Sheila was awarded an OBE in the New Year’s Honours List!

Sheila Fleet OBE

Sheila was shocked at this amazing tribute whilst the rest of the company was overwhelmed with pride and admiration for such a wonderful lady.

Fast forward a few months and it was time to put on our best clothes and take a trip to Buckingham Palace.

Sheila collected her OBE from Prince Charles and shared a wonderful chat with him about Orkney and his recent trip to the island.

By the autumn, Sheila had been selected as one of The Professional Jeweller Magazine’s hot 100 trendsetters of 2013.

This involved another trip to London to see Sheila on screen at the biggest jewellery event of the year – named as the hot 100!

The end of the year brought an extra cherry on top of the cake when we celebrated our 20th birthday with a big party and a whole host of goodies for our wonderful customers.

It feels like we didn’t stop in 2013, bouncing from one celebration and surprise to the next but there’s no need to worry that 2014 won’t live up to expectations.

We hope to start plans on our exciting new church re-development which is adjacent to our workshop to create something a little special for our visitors and to use for events throughout the year.  This will also incorporate a tea room serving light refreshment and good home baking!  It is at the early planning stages at the moment and we hope to share more with you as the project progresses into 2014.

2014 is going to be huge for Scotland as we get ready to host the Commonwealth games in Glasgow, the anniversary of Bannockburn and the year of Homecoming; there is a real buzz about the place and hopefully tourists will be able to see why we love our wee corner of the world so much.

We’ve also got a big decision to make on the future of Scotland; whatever the results of the independence referendum it’s sure to be a great opportunity to shine a spotlight on our country and show the rest of the world what great industries we have here.

Scotland is home to some of the most inspiring, creative and popular designers in the world and we know that 2014 will be the perfect chance to showcase this.

From all at Sheila Fleet Jewellery, we wish you the very best in all that you do in 2014.
