We’re delighted to introduce a special guest blog from Janice! If you come along to Meet the Designer this weekend you’ll meet Sheila and Janice in Jenners, Loch Lomond Shores, Balloch. A warm welcome and lots of fun is assured!

Janice has worked with Sheila Fleet Jewellery for 12 years, gaining her Professional Jewellers Diploma through the National Association of Goldsmiths along the way. She is now our Area Manager for Loch Lomond and Glasgow, attending trade and wedding shows in Glasgow, Birmingham and London for us as well as helping our stockists with display and presentations.

Janice and her team have been busy getting ready for Meet the Designer… and Janice’s daughter, Kayleigh, has literally cooked up a surprise! Janice takes up the story…

It’s always good to be showing new collections at our annual Meet the Designer event and this time it’s the “Daisies for Emily” collection. A percentage of this purchase will be going to a charity fund, the Orkney Charitable Trust, and each person who buys from the Daisy collection in the first weekend will be presented with a Daisy cupcake.

I enjoy my work very much – every day is different at Loch Lomond Shores! We have regular customers and tourists looking to purchase jewellery genuinely designed and made in Scotland – we’re delighted to oblige!

There’s something here for everyone. Often our customers are choosing for that special occasion: birthdays, anniversaries, retirements, leaving present, engagement or wedding. It is always nice to welcome back customers or meet new customers and their positive feedback makes it really rewarding. Some of our customers become friends and we share in their stories of special occasions and events in their lives.

The location here on Loch Lomond is stunning. You never tire of the view! It has inspired Sheila to do local collections for us, like Lomond Reflections, Maid of the Loch and Paisley Leaf.

We have people who come from far and wide to meet Sheila at Meet the Designer and I often quote her words to them ”If people enjoy wearing my designs as much as I enjoy creating them, then how wonderful is that!”

Outside of work I like to catch up with my family and friends. I come from a big family so lots of people to see and socialise with. I love to travel and my holidays are mostly cruises, visiting different countries and cultures. I enjoy the fun things in life and have experienced things like swimming with dolphins and stingrays and also Deep Sea Trekking – that was amazing! You don’t even get your hair wet! I did the Go Ape Zip slide assault course at Aberfoyle – 3 hours of great fun! – and ended up being photographed in their brochure!

Though we don’t have zip slide, there’s lots to do at Lomond Shores! We have various activities for families, a sea life centre, lots of eating places and shopping opportunities. Everything is under one roof, ideal if it happens to rain. Free parking too!

I have a great team at Lomond Shores and Glasgow. They are a fantastic support to me, enabling me to participate in many events outside of the stores.

We are all very proud of Sheila’s recent achievements: her OBE last year, reaching Number 3 in the top 100 Professional Jewellers, celebrating 20 years in business and a few weeks ago receiving a MA Honorary Degree of Master of Arts from the University of Edinburgh.

This just makes the jewellery even more collectable for our customers and it is great to be part of ‘Team Fleet’!

I look forward to meeting you and you can be assured of a very warm welcome from Sheila, myself and our brilliant team.
