With retail locations now in Edinburgh, Glasgow, St Andrews and Orkney, we're delighted to have a fantastic retail workforce across Scotland that is 100% women!

Each of our galleries is unique with each location bringing a different Sheila Fleet Jewellery experience. We've been been speaking to the retail managers from our shops to find out what they do and discuss some of the best bits of the job...

Catch up on Part One and Part Two of this blog series!

Coylah Entwistle – Glasgow Gallery Manager

A bit about your role:

I'm responsible for creating a perfect Orkney shopping experience out-with Orkney. I try to ensure our customers have a memorable day with us, helping to build a good relationship for years to come. I pride myself in taking care of the store as though it's my own and making sure my staff feel appreciated and supported. We have a large selection of Sheila's jewellery, and a beautiful display area to maintain and keep exciting for our returning customers, which I think we achieve brilliantly as a team. Teamwork makes our Glasgow dream work!

What is your favourite part of your job and what is the most loved piece of jewellery or collection by your customers in Glasgow?

It's difficult to choose only one so I'll go for two! My favourite part of my job is being a good team leader to my colleagues. It’s always been important to me that I'm an approachable manager to my team and that they feel supported where and when required. Out-with managing, I absolutely love displaying Sheila's jewellery in creative ways and seeing positive responses from anyone looking at the designs. I am definitely my own biggest critic, so it keeps me feeling challenged if I can rework something that I thought was perfect yesterday.

The most loved item in Glasgow is the Tidal 3-part Bangle in 9ct Yellow, White & Rose Gold, which is admired by all! Sheila's classic Pentland collection is also a consistent top seller in Glasgow, as well as in our other shops and online!

A bit about your role:

I’m responsible for managing the Edinburgh Gallery, which is one of many beautiful independent shops in the bustling neighbourhood of Stockbridge. We have an extensive range of Sheila’s jewellery and a great selection of her special occasion rings. I’m also responsible for sourcing giftware and art for the shop, and over the last year I've been predominantly buying from Orkney-based artists. As a fellow Orcadian myself, this is something I’m passionate about. We love promoting the Orkney Workshop, the island itself, and supporting local artistry, so much so that I sometimes feel like we are part of the tourist board! I flourish with an opportunity to get creative and enjoy working with the Creative/Marketing team in Orkney, whether that be running the Edinburgh Instagram page, visual merchandising or assisting with trade displays.

What is your favourite part of your job and your most loved piece of jewellery?

My favourite aspect of my job is the people I work with both here in Edinburgh and throughout Sheila Fleet Jewellery. I’m lucky to manage a fantastic team of women who support each other, work hard, and—like me—genuinely enjoy what they do. The gallery has a friendly and fun atmosphere, which I’d like to think is infectious to customers who visit us!

The second part of the question is much trickier! One of my favourites of Sheila's designs is her Matrix collection, especially in yellow gold. If I had to pick just one piece it would be the textured Matrix ring with 12 sparkly diamonds.

Julia McArthur – The Kirk Gallery Manager

A bit about your role:

I manage The Kirk Gallery retail area and aim to give our visitors a great shopping experience in the very place where Sheila's jewellery is designed and made. I discover, purchase and curate a range of local and UK made giftware for the Kirk and Kirkwall Gallery that both complements the location and jewellery, but that is also appealing to locals and visitors.

What is your favourite part of your job and most loved piece of jewellery by customers in your location?

My favourite part of my job is working with a fantastic team in such a vibrant environment. Also meeting and greeting customers from all over the world, and being able to help them choose a special piece of jewellery to take home. Another favourite role is the pleasure of buying beautiful gifts for our mezzanine area.

Favourite designs by customers at The Kirk includes Scapa Flow, Snowdrop, Seasons, Wild Grasses, Skyran and Ogham.

Anna Laird - Kirkwall Gallery Manager

Role/position: Retail Manager of the Kirkwall Gallery

A bit about your role:

The largest part is being the welcoming face of Sheila Fleet Jewellery in our lovely location on the street. I'm so lucky to have a fantastic team here, all of whom bring a breadth and wealth of knowledge and experience to keep the shop looking amazing. Although the jewellery is the main event, we are blessed with a huge array of knitwear, ceramics, prints, gifts, cards and homewares by incredibly talented designers from Orkney and across the UK.

What is your favourite part of your job and most loved piece of jewellery in your location?

Meeting people from all over the world and hearing their stories. Some are very familiar with Sheila's jewellery and some may have never seen it before, and it's always so rewarding helping someone find that perfect design to take away and build new memories with.

We have quite a few showstoppers in the Gallery but one of my favourites is definitely the large Runic Necklace. It's a stunning piece in enamel or in oxidised silver, and it's such an iconic, timeless design.
