NEW Sheila Fleet Kirkwall Shop Update!
Sep 6, 2024
After two years of working behind-the-scenes on our new Kirkwall Gallery location, we thought it ...
It’s Christmas in the Kirkwall Gallery! Muriel, Leanne and Marion have been busy transforming the shop into a winter wonderland… and they are ready to welcome you!
Our Manager Muriel (far right), has a very warm and sunny disposition, as you can see from her great smile! Muriel is also very musical and you may hear her humming as she goes about her work. She joined us in February last year and has worked in retail locally for more than 20 years. It’s almost a family tradition as her daughter Erica is one of Sheila’s experienced enamellers.
Our display expert, Marion, has been hard at work, ably supported by her helping “elves”. Marion joined us in March this year and brings 20 years experience in interior and exhibition design to the team. We’re certainly enjoying her new ideas – especially when she reaches for her saw and hammer! Orkney doesn’t have many trees so Marion decided to cut out her own! They are now painted white and gracing the shop’s front window.
Inside the Kirkwall Gallery, alongside Sheila’s extensive jewellery and ring collections you’ll find lovely gift ideas and decorations from Finland, Denmark and Germany on the ground floor. Move upstairs and a delicious display of designer products from Scotland will open before your eyes.
The colourful decorations on the left below are made of felt and have come from Finland. On the right the intricate gold and silver hearts and Christmas trees will add a little sparkle to any room.
Leanne (middle top picture) started working in the Kirkwall Gallery on Saturdays when she was just 15 years old. Leanne’s mother is one of Sheila’s experienced team in Tankerness and after 7 years with us Leanne is an experienced member in her own right. She looks forward to using her knowledge to help you choose from Sheila’s collections of contemporary and traditional jewellery.
Sheila has been busy designing new sized Moonlight pieces and they are ready now, just in time for Christmas along with many other new gold, silver and enamel designs. The new Moonlight pieces pictured below are created in 9ct yellow gold and are handset with solid white opals and diamonds. Sheila was inspired by the soft reflection of the Moon on the winter sea, a mystical staircase to the stars.
Take a look in and you’ll find the shop has a painterly feel with Scandinavian influence and a touch of fairytale magic… with a very warm welcome from the ladies!
