This Flagstone necklace in sterling silver features three layered silver segments, hand-enamelled in our Orkney workshop. The design drops delicately from a sterling wire and measures approximately 15mm by 22mm.
Sheila has always been very interested in geology, especially during her early years while studying at Edinburgh College of Art. Flagstones—or flags—have a unique texture and are used for fencing in parts of Caithness, with animals using them as shelter during the winter months. As the stones become weathered they acquire a beautiful colour and texture, and this aged appearance gave Sheila the inspiration for her ‘Flagstone’ collection.
