This Flagstone necklace in sterling silver is hand-enamelled in our Orkney workshop, featuring seven layered segments of silver. The design delicately hangs from a sterling silver wire, measuring approximately 14mm x 31mm.
Sheila has always been very interested in geology, especially during her early years while studying at Edinburgh College of Art. Flagstones—or flags—have a unique texture and are used for fencing in parts of Caithness, with animals using them as shelter during the winter months. As the stones become weathered they acquire a beautiful colour and texture, and this aged appearance gave Sheila the inspiration for her ‘Flagstone’ collection.
