This Cathedral brooch in classic 9ct yellow gold is the second of three circular designs Sheila based on sandstone carvings in Orkney’s St Magnus Cathedral. This bold design features four curved shapes separated with small teardrops, forming a subtle cross pattern. The golden design measures approximately 32mm wide.
Sheila based her Cathedral collection on three beautiful carvings found on the east wall of St Magnus Cathedral in Orkney. Carved into the red sandstone, these date to around the 13th century and may once have been associated with altars dedicated to St Margaret, St Catherine and St Barbara.
