At the start of November Amy from the shop in Kirkwall and myself “popped” down the road to London to exhibit at The Country Living Christmas Fair.

We were situated alongside eight other craft companies from Orkney at the Business Design Centre in Islington and had a great five days with them and the thousands of customers that came through the doors.

Fair storefront

It was excellent to have people coming in specifically to see us; Sheila Fleet Jewellery isn’t available on the high street in London so these events are really important for us and for our loyal customers living in the capital!

This was our fourth year at the show and for the second time running we ran out of leaflets; they’re our secret weapon at Christmas shows as ladies can take them home and pass them on to their other half as a festive wish list!

Storefront 02

At least our website is easy to negotiate for men as well as women!

It was also exciting to have a look around the exhibition and get the chance to see other products from all over the UK that we could potentially stock in our shops.

It was great fun being part of a group of crafters from back home and the fair was an excellent way to promote Orkney in London.

Storefront 03

Hume Sweet Hume, The Quernstone, Hilary Grant, Island designs, Pat Sutherland Quilts, Betty Laughton, Scapa Studio and Stewart Moar Jewellery provided a mixture of knitwear, ceramics and jewellery and made our ‘Orkney Village’ of the exhibition an extremely popular and very beautiful one!

Though it was tiring to do the show for a full week we did manage to have some fun along the way and it’s always great to be in London.

Bonfire

It was very nice to get home from London in time for our fireworks display at the workshop; the city is nice but it’s good to be out of the hustle and bustle!
